Daffodil Centre celebrates its second anniversary with the theme of Moving the Dial in Cancer Control.
On 17 July 2023, Cancer Voices NSW attended the the second anniversary event of the Daffodil Centre, a joint venture between Cancer Council NSW and the University of Sydney. It was held in the Susan Wakil Health Building at the University of Sydney.
Guests heard from CEO Prof Sarah Hosking, who acknowledged those responsible for the establishment of the Daffodil Centre, the importance and scale of their work, the contribution of community (including the work of Cancer Voices NSW – keeping them on focus and on message) and philanthropic supporters. Prof Hosking referenced the landmark research work on trends in incidence 2020-2040 – insights into the next three decades. She also emphasised how collaboration and partnerships are fey to the future in terms of research, policy, practice and outcomes.
With the theme of Moving the Dial in Cancer Control: Research to inform policy and practice in Australia and globally, we heard about the achievements and challenges of cancer research. Researchers presented some of their ground breaking work which will ultimately be used to inform policy and practice and improve the lives of those affected by cancer. A panel of experts discussed how we can ‘move the dial’ in cancer control.
