Following extensive consultation and collaboration, SA Health has developed a Draft SA Cancer Plan 2024-28 (PDF 360KB).
The South Australian Government has released the Draft SA Cancer Plan 2024-2028 for public consultation. The plan includes actions across prevention, screening, diagnosis, early detection, treatment, survivorship, palliative care, data collection, research and clinical trials.
The objectives of the five-year plan are to:
- reduce the incidence of cancer occurring in the SA population
- improve the cancer experience for those diagnosed with cancer, and their families/carers
- improve long term survivorship after diagnosis.
An Action Plan will support the SA Cancer Plan, providing additional detail on how activities will be actioned, who will action them and when that will occur
The final plan is expected to be released by the end of 2023 will be available on the SA Health website.
The project is being led by the Department for Health and Wellbeing, under the guidance of a Project Board and in partnership with the Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health and the Statewide Cancer Clinical Network.
