On Friday 20 October, Cancer Voices joined Board members, staff, other voting members and individual members of Health Consumers NSW at the joint Board and Consumer Taskforce Workshop. Attendees met in person and online to celebrate achievements in the financial year 2022/2023.
The day comprised of a workshop which included discussion on the the NSW Health Future Health Strategy 2022-32 and how we might be able to contribute and put the patient’s and carer’s voices right into the middle of it all.
The HCNSW Annual General Meeting was held in the afternoon. John Garbutt, Chair HCNSW Board and Anthony Brown, CEO HCNSW, spoke on the year’s highlights and thanked the Board, staff and members.
During the AGM, three members were returned – John Garbutt (Stroke Recovery Association), George Houssos (Thalassaemia & Sickle Cell Society of NSW) and Murray McLachlan (Deputy Chair and Secretary Cancer Voices NSW) who was reappointed for a second three year term. Gillian Mason from The Physical Disability Council NSW was welcomed.as a new member of HCNSW Board. Jenn Kidd (Administration and Memberships Coordinator) was also thanked for her 10 years with HCNSW and more broadly for her service to health consumers engagement in NSW. Jenn began with HCNSW in March 2013, when Morag Morrison was the Executive Officer and Betty Johnson OAM was Chair of the Board.
