The Special Commission of Inquiry into health funding in NSW is conducting a review of the funding of health services in NSW. The Special Commission, announced by the Minister for Health, Ryan Parc on 24 August, was a key election commitment of the NSW government.
The Inquiry Team will be led by Commissioner Richard Beasley SC and will deliver the final report to the Governor on or before 24 August 2024.
The terms of reference are broad and largely focused on the governance and funding models in the health system:
- the existing governance and accountability structure of NSW Health
- the way NSW Health funds health services delivered in public hospitals and community settings
- strategies available to address escalating costs, limit wastage and identify areas of improvement in financial management.
