Consumer Involvement in Research (CIR)
Working with researchers
We have a growing need for more people to join our CIR Program to contribute their knowledge and expertise to work with researchers to help improve cancer research, particularly given the growing awareness of the value of consumer involvement, and an increasing number of requests for our CIR matching service.
Would you like to work with researchers?
Meet some of our consumers and their researcher partners and read what they have to say about these partnerships, what motivates them and how they work together to support cancer research.
Would you like to undertake training to participate in this rewarding work?
If you, or someone you know, is interested in being involved in the program, the first step is to undertake consumer training. Currently the training consists of four online modules which take approximately three hours to complete and is designed to give participants a basic idea of the different types of cancer research, the stages of research and funding cycles and what is expected of the consumer. You can then register to attend the annual CIR training workshop run by Cancer Council NSW.
If you, or anyone that you know, would like to undertake the CIR training, or would like further information, we can be contacted at [email protected]
